Warehouse logistics is engaged in optimization and management of these processes. Every dynamically developing company cannot do without a room for temporary storage of goods. The productivity of the entire logistics chain depends on a well-organized warehouse and the level of professionalism of the staff - this can be easily seen from any Warehouse jobs description.
Today, the warehouse is a complex technological facility, divided into sections, performing the functions of managing the material flow (the company's product).
In turn, the warehouse is included in a system of a more complex level - the logistics chain, which dictates the rules of the warehouse organization, and also plans the strategic direction and criteria for its activities.
Warehouse logistics is a set of organizational measures aimed at inventory management to optimize financial and information flows. Within the framework of warehouse activities, concentration of products, proper storage and uninterrupted shipment of goods for shipment to the consumer are carried out.
The main functions of the warehouse include:
The active involvement of the warehouse in the process of promoting goods begins during the execution of logistics operations.
The work consists in the following manipulations:
The beginning of the logistics process in the warehouse is unloading. The way they are carried out may differ, depending on the nature of the product, the type of transportation and the technical equipment of the warehouse. The next step is the acceptance of the goods in accordance with the quantity and dimensions indicated in the accompanying invoices.
Next, the products are sorted and distributed among the sections of the warehouse. If necessary, the products are unpacked and completed in accordance with the stated requirements. In the storage area, stocks are laid out on racks.
If the manufacturer delivers on its own, the warehouse needs a section for short-term storage of a small amount of goods, completed and prepared for shipment to the consumer.
Warehouse logistics is “born” at the start-up stage, when an entrepreneur needs to decide on the number of warehouses. The initial stage of an accurate calculation is one of the determining ones, because if there are a lot of warehouses, these are unnecessary expenses, and if not enough, the costs of transporting and delivering products will increase.
