How to become a game developer?

How to become a game developer from scratch, and even in demand? There is no universal recipe, but there is a backbone of knowledge and skills that you can rely on. The game developers themselves tell you what you need to know to get into the field of game development today.

Where to start?

First of all, you need to start small — to understand how the games are arranged in general. Ready-made engines will help you to get a quick start in development. The most popular and fairly simple game engine is Unity, which contains many tools that facilitate development (Unreal Engine — C++ is more complicated and more serious).

To start developing, you need to have at least basic programming knowledge. In particular, the Unity engine requires knowledge of the C# language. That is, there should be an understanding of the basics of OOP, basic data structures. If we talk about development environments, then it can be both MS Visual Studio and other third-party solutions where it will be convenient for you to write code. Another important thing is, surely, game ui mobile.

How to build a training plan?

All training should be built, first of all, in practice — do a lot of small and completed projects. At the start, such projects can be found in various lessons, courses, and then try to come up with their own mini-games. Do not try to make a big dream project right away — without basic knowledge, it will be much harder and longer to study on such projects. Let you have colorful cubes and balls instead of players and enemies, but at first you will not be distracted by more complex details, such as animation, effects. Gradually learn how to work with resources, build simple scenes, try to work in both 2D and 3D.

What about books?

To become a game developer, you need a lot of practice, but this does not mean that it should not be supported by theory. It is worth noting that the vast majority of good books on game rendezvous can be found only in English. See more examples here game development outsourcing.

Which is better, independent game development or team development?

Creating a game on your own will require a whole array of skills and things that you will have to learn - so you will learn a lot, but this is also the most difficult way. It is also worth realizing: most likely, the first thing you do will be a failure. But this is normal, this is how it should be: this is what helps to learn.

It is worth noting that you need to take the first steps yourself, because how can you become a game developer and apply for a position without having the relevant experience behind you? If you do not plan to join the staff, but dream of becoming an indie game developer and running your own project, you will have to fill the cones yourself.
